The 2010 rerelease of Visconti’s Le Geupard has brought Alain Delon to a new generation of movie goers.
The August 19, 2010 guardian.co.uk has a wonderful article by David Thomson about and reminding us that “Alain Delon is an important player in movie history.”
of Plein Soleil -“But no one has done Ripley better than Delon.”
of Le Eclipse “Delon takes the fortress of Monica Vitti by storm. He is charming, untrustworthy, energetic, impulsive and so highly strung he steals the film away from Vitti.”
of LeSamourai- “It is a performance and film pitched on the brink of camp or insanity, impossible without Delon’s detachment.”
of Mr Klein – “This film has passed into woeful neglect, but it is one of the best movies about wartime paranoia and clinching proof that Alain Delon matters.”
We know and love these films. Hopefully this article will inspire those not familiar with Mr. Delon’s movies to seek them out. I agree with Mr. Thomson – “Alain Delon matters.”
