Any Alain Delon fan knows how much he loves dogs. There are many pictures of Mr. Delon with dogs over the years. This past year he helped Mombo, the dog who was badly burned.
Le Petit Nice shares Eric Richards’ interview with Alain Delon. I found his answers about how dogs are different from men, his communion with dogs, and his plans to be buried at Douchy, his home, amongst his dogs revealed a lot about Mr. Delon .
ER: You say your friends, the cult of friendship, but also a deep affection for the dogs and animals. How are they different from men?
AD: They usually have all the qualities of the man less defects! The defects of the man they, and countless unspeakable. They have the loyalty, love of the master whatever it is, without knowing who is and what is the master. I am always touched by the homeless dogs in the street. They do not know that their master is homeless … They love this man, they love their father, just as the Labrador Mitterrand loved his master without knowing he was president and patron of the country. Do you think my family know I am Alain Delon? They do not care completely. My dogs love me, they do not know who I am and what I do. It is total love, love track, love without thinking, pure and true love.
ER: Is there there a ritual or a special communion between you and your dog?
A. D.: There is nothing else, ask my driver who is with me. I am leaving the country, I have four of which are outside with a cat. As soon as I change my shirt to town, my dog Shalva is transfigured. He knows that I go, seen in his eyes he follows me everywhere, it does not move, he no longer has the same behavior because he knows I’m leaving. What is great in a dog is a dog knows that you go, but he did not know if you go back and there is this kind of fear, my father goes, but is it that he coming back? And that’s what is beautiful. I said one day the true loneliness is what I see in the eyes of my dogs when I left.
ER: You’ve buried your dog Douchy is not to forget them?
AD: Oh, but it’s much deeper than that my dear Eric. First the dogs is to keep close to me, every dog has his share of life, his gravestone and couples are together. But what is more important is the middle of this cemetery dogs, I built a chapel where I’d buried. Because I am fortunate to have made the necessary formalities with the expertise of soil and water. You know that to be buried at home is not given to everyone. It is private property and must make the request during his lifetime, that we do not give you but it gives you when you’re dead. That is to say that it is your heirs who say these are the requests were made etc. … So I’ll be buried in my chapel built in the middle of my dogs. So people come and tell me: “You do not realize,” I tell them: “But wait, this is the ultimate luxury. You want me go to Pere Lachaise or Montparnasse cemetery? “Here I am at home on my property among my dogs in my hole, it’s great! This is total luxury!
